(Sound on) Photographer Danny P Bloom says goodbye to San Francisco: “When I first told a friend about the idea for this project, I burst into tears.. Saying goodbye to this incredible city is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I wanted to do something special on my way out - in an attempt to say thank you for all San Francisco has done for me. I first had the idea to place 15 prints on the bus I ride the most (the 5) — but that didn’t feel personal enough. Plus, it had definitely been done before. Upon riding the 5 one day, I noticed that there were several baskets with a red “take one” sticker on them. Then it hit me. I decided to up my project from 15 prints on the bus, to now 165 photos total - with the additional 150 prints being small versions of the larger “permanent” ones that people could keep. Later that day, I was waiting in line at the post office. Then it hit me AGAIN. What’s more personal than a sealed letter? Bingo. - I finally landed on making 150 “love letters” instead of gifting prints. Each one contains a handmade stamp, sticker, and 4 by 6 print of the corresponding 8.5 by 11 above it. To receive a print, a user is forced to interact with the space and the physical work. Anyways.. I NEVER expected this project to get the response it did, and I’m beyond touched.. Thank you, once again, for making me feel loved & bringing me joy, San Francisco ❤️ @dannypbloom

Loving this sample book..
Via @book_historia A jewel box of a book ✨ This 19th century French sales sample book contains very thin metal ornaments, made of foil over card. These would have been used like fancy sequins, and adorned everything from cards to clothes! They’re sometimes called Dresdens after the town in Germany where many were made. I know I say this a lot, but this book really floored me 🤩 Part of col. 838 in the Winterthur Library @winterthurmuse 📖
